The small view is the one before the firmware with 960×640 and the one which is larger view has 1920X1280. The larger the view, it would be helpful for the animators.

The other feature that would be added to Canon EOS R cameras with the new stop motion photography firmware is USB manual focus peaking. This feature will help the animators to detail the depth in the field. However, it is important to know that HDMI output won’t be available with this firmware. For that, there would be need for the standard firmware.

However Canon also clears that USB manual focus peaking would not work under certain conditions and they are:

  • When EF-S lens are used
  • When cropping is set as an option
  • When multiple exposure is set
  • When shooting screen has magnification
  • If you hold shutter button even after shooting
