5 Things you wished you knew when you started Photography
You might have started photography out of your passion or your hobby and when you started, you did not think of anything much. But now I am sure you wished that if you had known a few things it would have been better. So, here are a few points that I feel I had missed at that time and now I feel that if I could have covered them or thought of them!
5 Things you wished you knew when you started Photography
1. The artist’s life
I never thought that I would ever live an artist’s life. Like, I never thought that to pursue my career and my hobby, I would need to get up too early in the mornings. So, in one way my lifestyle has changed completely. When I started, I did not know that such things would happen. I am sure even you did not know where the career will take you.
2. This hobby is expensive
When I started, it was just smartphone photography. But I started getting interested in DSLR photography because it looked good and professional. So, when I started photography I never knew that I will have to go through the expenses so soon. This hobby needs you to invest in a lot of camera-related accessories and hence it is expensive in some ways.
3. Lenses are more important than the camera body
In my earlier years of photography, I used to change the camera body again and again. I had a thought that if I had a cool camera in my hands, it would look impressive. This was my biggest mistake when I started photography and yes, I had spent too many bucks in that switching. I am sure you also might have done similar mistakes and if you knew at that time that in a camera lens are the most important accessories, then you would have switched to the best lenses in the start itself. Am I not right?
4. Take the camera everywhere
I am sure when you might have started photography as a hobby, at some level you might have felt that it would be better to keep the camera home for some time and just go for a stroll. But what if you missed some of the most important sights? Well, taking the camera everywhere would mean that you will never miss anything that’s beautiful, important, and awesome.
5. Understand your tool completely
Rather than going here and there in search of what photography is or to learn the concepts, you should first try and understand your own gear. If you are able to do that half of the task is done. Later, you should surely take the plunge to learn every nook about photography. But the most important thing is that you know how your camera works and that will really work well for you even in the longer run.
Conclusion
You and I as a beginner were just the same and I am sure when you started photography there were a few things you wished you knew and even I feel that if I had known a few things, I would have picked up things very quickly.
But it’s better late than never. I am happy that today I am clear with almost all the concepts of photography. With time and experience, I managed to learn a lot of new things.
